So you found this great journaling app and it's just perfect. Beautifully designed yet functional. It takes in all your thoughts, your feelings, your experiences, your photos. It creates connections and lets you relive your most treasured memories.

And then it happens.

You get a new phone or you buy a new computer. And your beloved app is no longer supported. Or you outgrew it and it can no longer handle the amount of data you pour into it.

So you go and find a new app. But it's empty. Nothing there.

Your old app lets you export all your data. Maybe you get a large PDF. But you need to consume that one page after the other. No more jumping back and forth between the years. Maybe you get an XML or a JSON file, both great for a computer but not a human. And your new app doesn't let you import them.
